More Wicked

MORE WICKED

Matt. 5:13  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

With every passing generation the world seems to be getting more wicked every day.  It is said, in particular, the United States of America is becoming a wicked nation.  Is the world and America, truly, becoming more wicked?

The world is not becoming more wicked with each succeeding generation.  The world has always been a wicked place.  The world will continue to be a wicked place until Jesus Christ returns.

So, what do we mean when we think or acknowledge an increase in the wickedness of society?  We should be looking to ourselves, Christians, born-again believers, for the answer.  It isn’t an increase of wickedness in the world which we are seeing and experiencing, but a decrease of influence which Christians have had in our national and global societies.

Consider the world first and foremost as wicked; the domain of Satan, fallen angels, and the dominion of fallen man.  Of these, none have the capacity, ability, or will to do good.  The bible says out of the heart of men proceed evil.  And, the desire of Satan and his demons is no secret.  If the world is full of evil then why is it any surprise the world is wicked?

We have become lulled by the influence, impact, and affect of righteous men in our past.  Righteous people are the direct result of God’s influence in a person’s life.  Any person who considers God as central, integral, and necessary in their life stands out against evil and wickedness.  These are people which bring order to chaos, rule to disorder, and law to barbarism; the salt of the earth.  Such men created righteous enclaves, affected governments, and established nations.  Individually a grain of salt has little affect, but when the individual is joined with like minded people in a common purpose, the result changes the surrounding environment.

It is less that the wickedness of the world is increasing, but more, the influence of Godly people is decreasing.  When you consider the growing promiscuity of society, you must recognize the decreasing standards among Christians.  Every perceived increase in society’s wickedness and evil reflects a corresponding compromise or surrender in the Christian’s principles.  The problem in our society is reflected in the mirrors of individual Christians, every morning.

So, who is becoming more wicked every day?

There are a couple of phrases or sayings which might describe the current state of society; “beyond the point of no return, critical mass, and point of saturation”.  It would seem we have lived long enough on the laurels of past Christians and must strike an uphill battle to remedy our apathy.  The voice of the wicked has never been silent, but has always screamed and yelled in protest.  In the past these rampages have been behind closed doors or eyelids.  Today, evil has come into the open and without opposition has effected, not change, but the norm.

Where do you stand?  Are you the salt of the earth?  Do you have biblical standards and principles, or have you compromised and surrendered.

How do we effect change?
